Marcus Kuerten, born 1974 in the south of the Bergisches Land, is documenting the surroundings of the Rhineland with his unprocessed and unedited field recordings. He has collaborated with the Portuguese sound artist and folklore researcher Luís Antero, Bristol-based artist Matt Davies, musician and composer Paul Wirkus and Marco Medkour. The enthusiastic field recordist is involved in the Soundmap of Cologne project, co-founder of the konkretourist netlabel and initiator of Dawn Chorus Day events. He has also taken part in various soundart projects, magazines, audio books, compilations and radio broadcasts. His works have been registered and reviewed by media such as West German Broadcast (The sound behind the landscape), StillStream Radio, n0theen iC°n°...clast (Observation Attentive), The Scotsman, c/o pop, Goethe Institut (The Soundscape Movement), Vital Weekly, SZ Magazin (The Symphony of Metropolises) and noCo...mment. He is currently working in collaboration with Paul Wirkus on the Rheinkomposition project.
